HISTORY

Founded in 1992 and incorporated May 20,1993, the Linganore High School (LHS) Alumni Association, Inc. is designed to refresh high school friendships and to support Linganore High School. Anyone who has been a student or staff member of LHS is eligible for membership. Alumni meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month (except December) at 7:30 p.m. in the LHS conference room. Anyone eligible to join the Alumni Association is invited to attend these meeting to participate and contribute new ideas. The first President of our organization was Karen Dotterer White '70, who was instrumental in the 30th anniversary celebration of the dedication of Linganore High, held at LHS in December 1992.

Since our quiet beginning, a small group of dedicated alumni have carried on our annual dinner dance in the fall, an alumni basketball game in the spring, the senior breakfast in late May, two newsletters a year, and established a Scholarship Fund with the Community Foundation of Frederick County.

In 2003, we partnered with the school to establish the Distinguished Graduate Organization. The seventh Distinguished  Graduate Awards were presented November 25, 2009 to Joanna Boettinger Goger '91; Sara Morris Swetcharnik '73; Sally Murphy Arnold '75'; Ashley Norris Barthlow '88; and Bret Grossnickle '76.
