Adventure Park USA Summer Camp

American Sign Language Camp  
Ready, set, sign!  In addition to great camp activities such as swimming, hiking, religious
education, and chapel, campers will learn the basics of American Sign Language through daily
lessons, and then use what they learn through shared activities with Deaf campers!  (Older ASL
campers will share lodging with Deaf campers as well.)  Campers will be grouped by age based
on enrollment.

Banson NYC Fashion Summer Camps  
Banson NYC is excited to offer 2 NYC Fashion Summer Camps for high school students in 2012.  They are designed for teens entering 9th through 12th grades.  Each week-long session will teach students the fundamentals of the fashion industry by providing an insider’s perspective.  Students will stay at the LIM College dorms on the Upper East Side.  All rooms have double or triple occupancy (based upon availability), have 24 hour security, hall RA’s, private bathrooms, flat screen TVs, free local and long distance phone service, a microwave, fridge and freezer as well as access to a 24 hour gym in the building. Our camps run from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday-Friday so check in will be between 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Sunday and check out will be between 10:00 – noon on Saturday.  We accept applications on a first come, first served basis.  For details, visit www.bansonnyc.org

The Catholic University of America  
Experiences in Architecture  

The Experiences in Architecture program at The Catholic University of America is an intense three-week workshop for students interested in architecture or other design related fields. Students are exposed to both the academic and the professional sides of the architecture arena, as the city of Washington, D.C., becomes their classroom.  The Experiences in Architecture program will better prepare you for the rigors of architecture school, giving you a head start, as well as acquaint you with campus life at the university level. Engineering New Frontiers  

Engineering New Frontiers (ENF) is a weeklong, residential summer camp for rising high-school juniors and seniors held on the campus of The Catholic University of America.
At ENF, students will work closely with CUA engineering faculty members to explore the wide variety of engineering opportunities in our society. Through classes, demonstrations, hands-on experiments, field trips to various engineering local facilities, students will experience what college engineering majors and professional engineers do. Living on campus, students also get a “taste” of college and exposure to the best of Washington, D.C., including special museum tours, sporting events, and various other safe recreational activities.

Contemporary American Theater Festival-Hostel YOUTH!   

Hostel YOUTH! brings cutting edge American youth theater to the "teens" audience with plays specifically written for them.  Based on a full immersion youth hostel model, the program provides 14-18 year old theater lovers a hands-on experience with some of the greatest talents working in contemporary drama today.

The 2012 pilot program will consist of two two-day sessions (July 10-11 & July 17-18). The cost is $130 (plus travel), which includes housing, food, workshop fees, and play and reading admission.  Over the course of 24 hours, participants will go behind-the-scenes of a professional theater and learn about the process of building new plays for the stage.  They will learn from professional theater artists and also play an integral role in the creation of a new play written for their demographic.

Emory University Pre-College Program  
The Emory Pre-College Program is a summer academic program for high school students. It gives college-bound rising juniors and rising seniors an exciting glimpse of academic and residential life at a top-ranked national university. High school students may explore topics with professors who are the leading experts in their fields, enroll in classes with college students, and earn transferable college credit. Frederick Co Workforce Services Summer Jobs Program

Maryland Summer Centers for Gifted and Talented Youth  
Continuing a tradition of excellence for forty-four years, the Maryland Summer Centers (MSC) engage gifted and talented students entering Grades 4-12 in unique summer programs. Centers located across the State offer one- to three-week residential and nonresidential programs with a focus on the arts, sciences, technology, engineering, and world languages.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology MITES  
MITES (Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science) is a rigorous six-week residential, academic enrichment summer program offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for promising high school juniors who are interested in studying and exploring careers in science and engineering. This national program stresses the value and reward of pursuing advanced technical degrees and careers while developing the skills necessary to achieve success in science and engineering. MITES is rooted in MIT's belief in the importance of students from diverse populations to pursue higher education and careers in these fields.
This is an excellent program for students who excel in math and science and it is FREE!  The only cost students incur is travel from home to and from MIT; students are housed in an MIT dorm on campus for the program.  The program is VERY competitive to get in given both the nature of the program and the cost, and students need transcripts, test scores, essays, and teacher recommendations as part of their application, so it is important to start the process now if you are interested.

Melwood's Camp Accomplish  
Camp Accomplish is a fully inclusive program for youth and teens aged 5-18. Campers enjoy a variety of different activities including swimming, climbing wall and ropes courses, archery, creative arts, sports, canoeing, horseback riding, campfires, talent shows, and much more. Camp Accomplish offers options for day and overnight camp in addition to a two-week teen program. Activities and schedules are designed in a way that all campers get to spend extra time doing what is most interesting and exciting to them. Coupled with a qualified and person-centered group of staff members, a summer at Camp Accomplish will surely be nonstop fun in the sun!

Oxford Advanced Studies Program  
Thousands of young people travel to England each year, especially during the summer, to participate in a different culture, in sightseeing and in high school study programs and to experience the challenge and excitement of living abroad. United States Department of Agriculture  

The AgDiscovery program was initiated by APHIS/Veterinary Services as a pilot program in 2002. Funding for AgDiscovery is facilitated through a cooperative agreement with the hosting University.

AgDiscovery is an outreach program to help students learn about careers in animal science, veterinary medicine, agribusiness and plant pathology. This 2-4 week program allows participants to live on a college campus and learn about Agricultural science from university professors, practicing veterinarians and professionals working for the U.S. Government. Students chosen to participate in AgDiscovery will gain experience through hands-on labs, workshops, field trips and other group and team building activities.

Washington College Computer Mapping Technology Summer Camp  
Washington College’s Geospatial Technology Summer Camp offers a unique summer camp experience for kids in grades 7-12. Campers will spend one week at Washington College exploring many areas of this growing field. In combination with GIS, campers will also explore the chemistry of the surrounding waterways, the ecology of the Chester River Watershed, and the history of Chestertown by creating a 3D rendering of the town. The purpose of this camp is to allow students interested in forensic science to obtain hands-on training from certified experts in various disciplines of forensic science. These students will interact with experts in a small group setting designed for question and answer sessions. Sports Announcing
 
The camp will include workshops throughout the week with past and present professionals in the sports announcing industries. Bill Hilgrove, John Steigerwald, Paul Steigerwald and Frattare will serve as mentors and teachers for the students. 
Frattare, former voice of the Pittsburgh Pirates and assistant professor of communication at Waynesburg University, believes the camp offers a great experience for high school students interested in broadcasting. 
“Students will gain an understanding of the challenges facing individuals wishing to compete in the highly competitive field of sports announcing,” Frattare said. “It is my hope that the students who attend the camp will come away from the experience with many cherished memories.”

Widener’s Summer Engineering Camp is serious fun. You’ll make concrete blocks, launch soda bottle rockets, and explore the fields of chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering.
